I walk my dog regularly along the riverbank but no longer, not whilst sheep are grazing.
What should be a joy has become something shaming to all dog owners.
I am ashamed for the dog owners who allow their animals to chase sheep.
I am ashamed for the dog owners who deliberately leave the gates wide open, presumably to scatter the sheep.
And I am ashamed for the dog owners who rip down from fenceposts messages from the farmer pleading for dog walkers to be responsible.
Too many people take a selfish, careless attitude to dog ownership, from allowing dogs to foul the area to the crime of sheep worrying. It’s a sad state of affairs.
The guilty know who they are, but do they not feel shame?
