A MAN is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash near Newbrough on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around midday and say a man in his fifties was left trapped in a car.
Paramedics from the North East Ambulance Service called for assistance from the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
Doctors assessed the man and he was given blood and plasma at the road side, as well as being placed in an induced coma.
He was flown to Newcastle's RVI in 15 minutes with injuries to his head, chest, pelvis and both legs.
