A MOTHER and her three daughters have raised more than £500 for the British Heart Foundation.
Sylvia Lavery and daughters Stacey, Tanya and Lisa walked 18 miles from Bellingham to Hexham in memory of her son Patrick, who died last Christmas, and husband Peter, who passed away 18 years ago.
The family pushed on through the pain barrier to complete their fund-raising challenge, which started before 7am in heavy rain at Bellingham and finished with an ice cream in the sunshine in Hexham Market Place mid-afternoon.
Stacey said: “It was challenging, but as a family, we enjoyed every step to raise money for such a worthwhile charity which is close to our hearts, despite being soaked in the morning, cooked in the afternoon sun, nettled and encountering the occasional grumpy driver!”
