CHANGES are in store at Prudhoe Town Council after it welcomed a new councillor and said goodbye to one of its long-standing members.
Coun. Eileen Burt resigned from the council at last week’s meeting due to the fact she is relocating away from the area.
Other councillors paid tribute to the work Coun. Burt had carried out in the town over her 17 years as a councillor, which included a period as the town’s mayor.
Following her resignation, a vacancy was declared in Prudhoe West and Halfway Ward.
On the same night, councillors welcomed a well-known member of the community, Holly Kelleher, as a new councillor.
Holly is well-known as race director for Prudhoe Parkrun, coaching runners at Prudhoe Plodders and various ‘Couch to 5k’ groups, and for her other voluntary work.
She was co-opted onto the vacant seat for Castle and Eltringham Ward.
