POLICE have issued reassurances after members of the public raised concerns about a man offering lifts to people in Prudhoe.
Inquiries were carried out and police identified the elderly man as someone who was offering lifts as a gesture of goodwill, and with no criminal motivation.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: "Officers are satisfied that no criminal offences have taken place and the man has been given words of advice.
"The reports were made in good faith and we encourage members of the public to report anything suspicious to us."
