A PLOT of land on Prudhoe’s old hospital site looks set to be used for forest schooling.

The land off Moor Road, known as Dukes Hagg and owned by Homes England, was put up for sale by Thomas Lister earlier this year.

Now social enterprise company Stomping Grounds Forest School has confirmed that it has had an offer accepted on the 33 acres of woodland.

While the sale is still subject to legal procedures, it hopes to be up and running later this year.

Stomping Grounds Forest School runs sessions such as youth clubs, after school clubs and holiday clubs in a forest environment, with activities such as campfire cooking, fire lighting, den building and survival skills.

Sophie Watkinson, director at Stomping Grounds Forest School, said it was keen to hear from people in Prudhoe about what they think the town could benefit from – whether it was a focus on adults, teenagers or pre-school aged children – as well as any other ideas about what the organisation could do.
