AN ANONYMOUS donation of £16,500 has helped Carrie Beckwith-Fellows reach the £75,000 target to receive life-saving surgery in Barcelona.

The first part of the surgery will stop the continuing deterioration of her cognitive and memory function by stabilising her spine and removing pressure from her brain stem.

Carrie's wife, Lisa, said: "We are ecstatic and utterly relieved as you can imagine, and so incredibly grateful to the donor and everyone else who helped get us there.

"We still need to raise £25,000 for the second part of the surgery which will fix Carrie’s damaged spinal chord in her lower spine but, at least we know she is definitely getting the main surgery."

Due to her physical condition, Carrie will travel to Barcelona by van on September 1.
