A COFFEE shop which brings a taste of Italy to Prudhoe has moved into new premises.

The cafe, which opened in 2013 in Front Street, has gone from strength to strength, earning itself a loyal customer base along the way.

“Despite only being here for five years, we have made ourselves such a big part of the community,” said owner Anthony Finn.

“When we thought about the idea of a coffee shop, we didn’t feel like there was anywhere nearby that put coffee first.”

Anthony first tried Caffe Ginevra while visiting Italy in 2009. He was instantly enamoured by its taste and, using his GCSE Italian knowledge, he emailed the company about the possibility of shipping it to the UK.

Anthony started importing the coffee from Italy soon after and has never looked back.

He said: “We’re the only cafe in the UK that imports this type of coffee, and we aim to blow our customers away with great coffee and customer service.”

Anthony, who runs the business with wife Amy, has expanded upon the Prudhoe branch’s success by opening shops in Blyth and in West Denton. And the latest expansion in Prudhoe has seen in him move across the road in Front Street into bigger premises.

He said: “It was always my ambition to get the business to this stage but I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly.”

Italian heritage has long been in Anthony’s family after his father worked there when he was his age. “We get loads of Italian natives visiting the cafe all the time. We try our best to replicate the Italian experience,” he said. Recent holidays to Italy have proved educational as they allows the couple to continue to explore new flavours and ideas.
