A 62-YEAR-OLD man has pleaded not guilty to causing death by careless driving in relation to a collision near Belsay.
Malcolm Harrison, of West Thorn, Kirkley, was accused of being behind the wheel of a van when it allegedly collided with Thomas Gill's VW Golf on the A696 north of Ponteland, near Belsay, on December 2, 2016.
84-year-old Mr Gill from Newcastle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Harrison entered a not guilty plea at Newcastle Crown Court on Friday and was told he will stand trial on November 12.
