A SURGERY aimed at farmers will be held in the district on Friday.
Hexham’s MP Guy Opperman will hold the surgery with Northumberland NFU at Hexham Auction Mart between 9am and 10.30am.
The event will provide an opportunity for local farmers to raise issues and concerns with their MP and local farming representatives.
Northumberland NFU vice-chairman Tom Richardson, who farms at Wheelbirks, near Stocksfield, said: “This surgery is a great opportunity for local farmers to come and discuss local and national farming issues with Guy. The timing is very well placed to influence the development of the Agriculture Bill, payment schemes and standards. Come along to be heard.”
Mr Opperman added: “Our local farming community is facing a lot of change, and this change brings both challenges and opportunities.
“With the UK leaving the EU and with new environmental and agriculture legislation currently going through Parliament, events like this are vital for addressing questions and queries specifically relating to farming here in Tynedale.”
