A FREE event spearheaded by agricultural businesses aims to help farmers plan for the future.

‘Future Proof Farming: Managing your Agricultural Business in a Changing Environment’ will bring together agricultural financial and legal experts along with specialists in the dairy industry and farming organisations.

Speakers will include Robert Craig of Peepy Farm, Northumberland, and director of First Milk, and Adam Day, managing director of the Farmer Network.

The event is being organised by the Hexham team of Armstrong Watson accountants, business and financial advisers, Newcastle-based Hay & Kilner law firm and Barclays Bank.

Topics of the talks are centred around the current challenges faced by farmers in this changing environment and include predictions for the rural economy, capital taxes and diversification and succession to help secure agri-businesses for future generations.

Andrew Robinson, head of agriculture for Armstrong Watson said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to hear from a wide range of speakers as they share their first-hand knowledge and experience. We recognise it’s not easy operating a farming business during these uncertain economic times, but we’re hoping to dig deep into some of the most pressing issues and look at what action farmers can take to ensure their agricultural businesses succeed and prosper for many years to come.”

Future Proof Farming will take place on Thursday, January 23 at 5.30pm at Hexham & Northern Marts. To book a place call (01228) 690100 or email events@armstrongwatson.co.uk
