CHANGE is in the air as the year draws to a close and Northumberland Young Farmers bid farewell to their chairman and president.

The club’s annual general meeting closed another year for the organisation, with Gina Tailford succeeding Edward Dungait as county chairman after a year in office,

“I’m sad to go but the club is in very safe hands with Gina,” Edward said.

“I’m pleased with how the year has gone. All our members have done themselves proud, especially as this year’s Northern Area Field Day.

“Being county chairman came with a lot of hard work, but it is the best thing I have done in my life and I’ve learned a tremendous amount from my time in the role.”

New chairwoman Gina, who is a member of Shaftoe YFC, said: “I am really excited to have taken on the role as county chairwoman.

“I have learnt a lot over the past two years from Joanna and Ed and know that I am prepared for the job. I have benefited greatly from the opportunities available from Young Farmers and I want to sure that all members experience the same fantastic opportunities that I have.”

Also stepping down from her role in the club is president Lesley Grieve, who has been succeeded by John Ogle.

Results from the much-anticipated awards presentation on the night included trophies going to Bellingham YFC for ‘Most Improved Club’ whilst ‘Club of the Year’ went to ShaftoeYFC.

£3,000 raised at the Northern Area Field Day was donated on the evening to Great North Air Ambulance Service, North of England Children’s cancer and RABI.
