Hexham and Northern Marts had an entry of 464 Store Cattle at their weekly sale which included the monthly sale of native breeds.

An increased entry on the week was presented to a full ring of buyers. Trade for both short keep and grazing stores was again dearer on the week.

The sale topped at £1315 for a Limousin x steer from regular consignors M/s G&A Herdman, Luns House closely followed by another Limousin steer at £1310 from another regular, Geoff Ogle, Blackburn.

Heifers topped at £1210 for a Limousin x from M/s JG & MA Watson, Bothal Park Farm, Peggswood, Morpeth.

Younger sorts were easily sold with grazing cattle considerably dearer due to the better weather and grass conditions.

Limousin x steers to £1150 from M/s Watson, Bothal Park Farm and smart Limousin heifers to £1190 and £1130 from M/s J Lee & Sons, Agars Hill.

The monthly sale of Native Breeds were also in strong demand especially for grazing sorts.

Top price £1275 for a strong Angus x steer from M/s F&KE Fabi & Son, Broadlea Farm, Great Stainton.

Store hoggs. A much-improved show of store hoggs this week with more forward also. Trade would be dearer on the week for all classes of hoggs, especially shorter keep sorts.
