From photography to felting, painting to printing, seven gifted members of the Hexham hub of Network Artists North East have been profitably ploughing their own furrows.
And the resulting exhibition, titled, Spirit of Growing, is set to sprout up at Hexham Abbey from Wednesday for two weeks.
Ann Sheppard said: “The exhibition includes diverse new work by David Taylor, Lindsey Cooper, Dave Pickard, Jill Dexter, Veronica Bell, Jenny Mathers and myself.
“We have all responded differently to the theme, some being inspired by the idea of personal or spiritual growth, while others reflect their love of nature, the seasons and the wider environment – from Northumberland National Park to the local allotments. The work includes painting, photography, textiles, sculpture and printing.”
Lindsey Cooper has been inspired by the seasons to produce four linoprints, the autumn one, A Blackbird’s Feast, features on the exhibition poster.
“This year, we’ve had a bumper crop of blackberries so it feels very apt,” she said.
“The Hexham hub is always looking for nice and interesting venues, and this year we wanted a theme that’s in keeping with the Abbey and the spirit of the Abbey.
“There is some lovely work, including Ann Sheppard’s needle-felted radishes that look good enough to eat!”
If you would like to visit, then head for the north transept of the Abbey between 10am and 4pm.
