ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SPECIAL EVENTS -SECTION 16A
(As Amended by Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991) TOUR OF BRITAIN EVENT 2021 TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PARKING RESTRICTIONS ORDER 2021
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council have made an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as
amended, the effect of which is to temporarily close the lengths of highways shown below in the Schedule and to further introduce temporary parking restrictions shown below in the Schedule with the exception of:
a. Any vehicles officially involved in the Tour of Britain Event 2021; or
b. Any vehicle being used for ambulance, police or fire brigade purposes or the purposes of an undertaker in an emergency such as the loss of supplies of gas electricity or water to premises in the area; or
c. Anything done with the permission or under the direction of a police constable in uniform, traffic warden or a civil enforcement officer.
The temporary prohibitions are necessary in the interests of public safety to enable Stage 6 of the Tour of Britain Event 2021 event to take place.
Where full road closures are not specified in this notice a rolling road closure will then be in place ahead of the progress of the race along the route set out below.
This Order includes but does not specify any undisclosed road closures, parking restrictions or prohibitions that the Tour of Britain Event 2021 has identified to be used in case of emergency.
In accordance with the provisions of the Highways Act 1980 and this order, any unauthorised vehicle found to be parked causing an obstruction will be removed by or on behalf of the council.
Where "Full parking restrictions" are specified, no waiting restrictions will be applied from 00:01 on 10th September 2021 until the race has passed through and the restrictions removed (unless otherwise stated) by the use of "no waiting" traffic cones and on any other road deemed appropriate to assist with traffic flow and event management.
Please be aware that the times stated below are the start of the race in a particular location, the lead riders may reach the next location before the last riders have left the previous one. Times are approximate and it is anticipated that lead cars and the rolling road block will arrive in each location up to 20 minutes before the race and will have left each location within 45 minutes after it first arrived.
Stage 6 - Carlisle to Gateshead
Stage 6 of the Tour of Britain Event will take place on the 10th of September 2021 and any times set out below relate to this date.
The stage begins in Carlisle and finishes in Gateshead passing through Northumberland between 13:30 and 14:45.
The route followed will be identified on street level maps for each location the Tour of Britain Event passes through.
Northumberland County Boundary Arrival time 13:25
The race will pass into Northumberland on the B6295 south of Allenheads at approximately 13:25
Allenheads Arrival time 13:30
The race will follow through the village on the B6295 towards Sinderhope.
Sinderhope Arrival time 13:45
The race will follow through the village on the B6295 towards Allendale.
Allendale Arrival time 13:50
The race will follow through the town on the B6295 to the B6295/B6303 junction where it will continue to head north on the B6303 to the B6303/ B6295 junction. It will re-join the B6295 and continue to head north towards Catton.
Full parking restrictions will be in place on both sides of the road between Wentworth Park and Leadside Bank.
Arrival time 13:50
The race will follow through the village on the B6295 to the B6295 / B6304 junction where it will bear right and continue on the B6304 to the junction of the B6305. It will then bear right and head east on the B6305 towards Lowgate.
Arrival time 14:10
The race will follow through the village continuing to head east on the B6305 towards Hexham.
A full road closure will be in place on the B6305 from the B6305 / C284 junction at Lowgate to the B6305 / B6351 junction at Hencotes between 14:00 and 15:00
Arrival time 14:10
The race will continue east on the B6305 through Hexham and onto the A695 towards Corbridge.
A full road closure will be in place on the B6305 from the B6305 / B6351 junction at Hencotes to the B6305 / A6079 junction at Priestpopple and continuing onto the A695 Corbridge Road to the A695 / B6529 (Tinklers Bank) junction between 14:00 and 15:00.
Full Parking restrictions will be in place on both sides of the road on the B6305 / A695 through Hexham to the A695/ B6529 (Tinklers Bank) junction.
Corbridge Arrival time 14:20
The race will pass Corbridge to the south on the A695 continuing east towards Riding Mill.
Riding Mill Arrival time 14:25
The race will pass through continuing east towards Stocksfield.
Stocksfield Arrival time 14:30
The race will follow through the village continuing to head east on the A695 towards West Mickley.
Full parking restrictions will be in place on both sides of the road on the A695 from Stocksfield through Branch End to West Mickley
Arrival time 14:35
The race will continue east on the A695 through Mickley to the A695 / B6395 junction. It will turn right onto the B6395 and continue east through Prudhoe to the B6395 / A695 junction. The race will then turn right onto the A695 and head east towards Gateshead.
A full road closure will be in place on the B6395 through Prudhoe from the A695 Prudhoe bypass (west) junction to the A695 Prudhoe bypass (east) junction between 14:30 and 15:30.
Full parking restrictions will be in place on both sides of the road on the B6395 (West Road).
The Order has been requested by Northumberland County Council in the interests of public safety to facilitate the Tour of Britain Event 2021
