I was at Ely High School 1967 to 1970 when Miss Greenwood was there. She taught me as did her future husband, David Trotter.

Joy was a very powerful influence on my early musical life. Our school choirs seemed to win every class at the local Music Festival. Woe betide anyone who failed to learn our music off by heart in time. I can't recall if it was her idea or ours, but my friends Gillian Murphy, Edwina Lofts, Elaine Staines and I (Felicity Markham) formed a quartet and won a cup at the festival too.

Later in school life, I took Grade 8 clarinet and Theory. I studied Physics at Oxford, and had a career in IBM with music as a firm hobby throughout. In 2014, I was made redundant, and long story short, decided to study music further. I took an Access to HE course in Music and graduated with a BMus (First class) from Royal Holloway in 2020. I am now studying for an MMus and started conducting a choir in 2017.

Miss Greenwood was a force to be reckoned with. We respected her, admired her, and looked up to her. In recent years I have Googled her name unsuccessfully and am really sorry not to have been able to update her on her very positive influence on my life and music. I am very sorry for your loss. I hope that you had many very happy and fruitful years since leaving Ely. Looking at her obituary, it sounds like her energy and skills at music education never abated. What a woman!
