SOUTHERN Gordon Hexham Peacefully in hospital on 28th September, 2019 aged 84 years. Gordon, dearly loved husband of Margaret and a loving dad to David and Janet. Gordon will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Private cremation. Would friends please meet for a service of thanksgiving to celebrate Gordon's life at Trinity Methodist Church, Hexham on Monday, 14th October at 2.00pm. A retiring collection will be taken for Macmillan Cancer Support. At Gordon's request, no black ties.

So sad to hear of Gordon's passing. He brightened up my day when he came into the cafe, I loved talking about what book he was reading, his family and his job. I was honoured to hear about his amazing career as a policeman and working in the coroners office, with all the unbelievable situations he had encountered while working there.
He spoke so highly and lovingly of his wife and two children, on a few occasions bringing in photos of them. He spoke about walking in the Lake district and making bread with Margaret, and the treasured time he spent with his children.
He meant a lot to all of us at the cafe, including customers, even for those who didn't know him for very long.
Truly a lovely, kind and respected man, who will very sadly be missed at the cafe and around Hexham too.
