Bollards issue goes to county

THE ongoing dispute about a dangerous Hexham pavement will be taken to Northumberland County Council, a Hexham councillor has promised.
Coun. Ingrid Whale said that in her capacity as county councillor she would raise the failure of the highways department to remedy the problem on Priestpopple.
After a three year campaign, two extra bollards were installed last month on the pavement in front of Herron’s food store.
But they are too widely spaced to prevent delivery wagons parking there.
The highways department said in a letter to Hexham Town Council that it “didn’t see the value of a larger number of bollards”.
