QUEEN Elizabeth High School Youth Theatre is celebrating its 30th anniversary in style, by putting on its biggest musical theatre production yet.
Students are preparing to perform West Side Story in a four-night run from Wednesday, December 9 until Saturday, December 12.
The youth theatre was founded by teacher Kathy White-Webster back in 1986 and began with a group of just 12 students.
Its popularity has continued to grow every year since and there are now over 100 students taking part.
More recently, students from Hexham Middle School have joined the students from QEHS, paving the way for its future success.
When Kathy retired, the mantle was taken over by head of drama, Emily MacDonald and head of music, Martin Hoile.
