COUPLES planning to tie the knot are urged to attend the first Hexham Wedding Fair on Sunday, March 20.

The free event, organised by Northumberland County Council registrars in partnership with Hexham Abbey, will showcase more than 40 of the best wedding suppliers from across the county.

Taking place inside the Abbey’s Priory Buildings, the event will give companies the chance to promote their services and provide expert advice on everything from bridal wear and jewellery to flowers, cakes, photographers and frocks.

Love-struck couples will also be able to speak to the county’s registration team for advice on booking one of more than 70 stunning venues across the county.

The county council’s wedding team will also be able to reveal more about plans to turn the stunning Grade II listed Hexham House, a property which boasts incredible views across Hexham Abbey, into a new wedding venue for hire.

The stately home is expected to be available for bookings in 2017, boasting a new bridal suite and right next to door to The Priory which can be hired for functions.

The wedding fair takes place in Hexham Abbey’s Priory Buildings from 11am to 3.30pm.
