A BELOVED woodland character has sprouted in Kielder Forest to lead children and families on the trail of adventure.

Stick Man has arrived at Kielder Water and Forest Park and is ready for fun.

The titular character, from the popular children’s book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, needs help to get back to his family tree.

The self-led 1.5 mile trail winds through the forest where there are activity boards and pictures to spot as walkers follow the fortunes of Stick Man.

Young and old alike will also learn about the importance of forests for people, wildlife and timber as they make their way through the woodland.

Activity packs with an activity leaflet, pipe cleaners to make your own Stick Man, a pencil and chunky crayon to make a Stick Man rubbing, are available.

No booking is required for the trail, which starts at Kielder Castle and follows the Duke’s Trail.

The trail is open between 8am and 6pm; activity packs are available from Kielder Castle Cafe between 9.30am and 5pm.
