CULTURE vultures in east Tynedale are in for a treat as the annual Prudhoe Arts Week gets under way once more.

The arts week will run from Friday, May 27, to Saturday, June 4, and will feature a myriad of arts, film, dance and music events.

Radio Prudhoe will return to the air from Monday, May 23, to Sunday, June 12.

And on Sunday, June 5, Prudhoe Community Fair will roll into town, taking place on the Glade from noon to 4pm.

The arts week will kick off next Friday with a golden oldies party from 7.30pm to 11pm at The Legion; tickets are £3.

On Saturday morning, a story-telling session will take place at Ginevra coffee bar on Front Street at 10am.

A teddy bears’ picnic will take place in the grounds of Waterworld from 2pm to 4pm on Monday, May 30.

From 2.30pm to 4.30pm on the same day, Paul Stangroom will give a talk for the University of the Third Age at his fine art gallery on Front Street.

Hit Disney film Frozen will be shown at the Fuse Media Centre at 2pm on Tuesday, May 31; tickets are £2.

Later the same day, a Zumba and energize dance session will be held at the Tory Club from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

On Wednesday, June 1, a pirate-themed photography session will be held at Debbie Young Photography on Front Street from 10am to 4pm.

That evening, Prudhoe Gleemen and Prudhoe Community Choir will come together to perform at West Road Methodist Church from 7.30pm to 9.30pm; tickets are £2.

At Debbie Young Photography, a superhero photoshoot will be held from 10am to 4pm on Thursday, June 2, with a woodland fairy photoshoot at the same time the following day.

On Friday, June 3, a memories afternoon will be held at The Manors in West Wylam from 2pm to 4.30pm which will feature a local history display and talk from Prudhoe Local History Society and music from John Robson and Jan Croot.

Prudhoe Community Allotments on Redwell Road will hold a plant sale from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, June 4.

Prudhoe Community Fair will kick off on Sunday, June 5, with a dragon parade; the Dragon Tale Theatre Group, Cubs, Beavers, Brownies and Prudhoe Bogey Racers will set off from the East Centre at 11.55am.

Elaine Pygall dancers will perform at the Glade, off Front Street, from 12.15pm to 12.45pm. Songs and dances from Dragon Tale Theatre Group shows will take centre stage from 1pm to 1.45pm. Neesh Dancers will perform from 2pm to 2.30pm, followed by the Leanne Binns dancers from 2.45pm to 3.15pm.

The event will close with a Songs of Praise event from 3.30pm to 4pm.
