AFTER 15 consecutive away defeats, Tynedale‘s first XV hit the road on Saturday with more than a little hope in their hearts.

For their opponents are Broadstreet, one of the few teams in National League Two (North) to have made a worst start to the season than Tynedale.

The Midlands outfit, based on the outskirts of Coventry, opened the season with five defeats in a row, conceding 32 tries in the process.

Their solitary win came four weeks ago in a 26-8 home success over Preston Grasshoppers, who Tynedale also beat, albeit by a whisker, in their last game before the World Cup Final break.

After that win, Broadstreet lost 23-15 at Stourbridge and 22-16 at South Leicester, so the Tynedale faithful are hopeful that the 420-mile round trip - the first of three away trips in November - will be worthwhile.

Tynedale‘s next home game is a week tomorrow, when South Leicester are the visitors in a game with a 2pm kick off.

Following the home encounter at Tynedale Park, they have back-to-back away days at Stourbridge and Otley, both currently occupying top half spots, to look forward to.
