TYNEDALE Panthers sent down two representatives as the North of England U15 stormed the annual National Academy Sevens competition in Birmingham.

Daisy Oliver and Holly Thorpe put in great displays when the regional squad came calling, helping the North to a clean sweep after dominant displays over the Midlands, the South East and the South West.

Daisy made her mark at scrum half, with Holly causing a stir out wide on the wing.

It rounds off a good year for the Panthers, the U15 team finishing as county champions with the club providing more players for the Northumberland and the North of England squads than any other club.

Numbers are on the increase and it is hoped teams at U13, U15 and U18 levels will be fielded next year.

The club is hosting a taster session for girls on Thursday, July 7, at 6.15pm.
