For they were knocked off eighth spot by Hinckley as they picked up maximum points in their 26-5 victory at Sedgley Park, Tynedale’s opponents on Saturday.
The margin of victory came as a bit of a surprise with Park going strongly in fifth, but it was Hinckley who flexed their muscles and came out on top to sneak into the top half of the table on points difference only. Hosts Tynedale will be hoping the Tigers of Sedgley again experience an off-day when they visit Corbridge, the home side looking to bounce back from their 37-28 reversal to Sale last time out.
They weren’t afforded the chance to put it right this weekend as a snow covered Threshfield meant their game with Wharfedale was the only game in the division to fall foul of the weather, as did Tynedale Raiders’ planned match-up with Wharfedale’s second string in the Northern Second Team League.
In the reverse fixture between Sedgley Tigers and Tynedale, the hosts grabbed a 24-24 draw with a try right at the death denying the Corbridge side their first away win of the campaign.
Things have changed since, though, and Tyne currently boast a four-game winning record on their travels, and they’ll hope to make it five at Chester a week on Saturday.
