Tynedale Rugby Club U13 put in a fantastic performance in the final of the Northumberland County Cup to defeat the much fancied Northern.

In a close contest, they overcame their opponents to clinch the trophy by a winning scoreline of 33-22.

Lewis Cant scored a hat-trick of tries with Jake Scott weighing in with two, while Thomas Beatty converted four of the five scores as they pushed ahead of their rivals.

It capped a great campaign for the youngsters after their county cup journey started with their first competitive game, enjoying victory over Rockcliff.

The enthusiasm among the squad is so high that they were able to turn up to the final, played on the artificial pitch at Druid’s Park, Woolsington, with 22 players to choose from.
