MORE changes are planned at Prudhoe and Stocksfield Rugby Club as they look to recruit new players.

The club, which has a senior men's team playing in Durham and Northumberland League Three, is inviting people either wishing to start out or return back to the sport to weekly training sessions, to start on Thrusday, August 3.

At the recent P&S AGM, Paul Griffin stepped down after six years as president and spoke highly of fellow members and the progress the club has made during his involvement, which started from the early days at its current base at Stocksfield Cricket Club.

John Reed, who has been involved since the club started as Prudhoe Hospital Rugby Club all those years ago, has taken on the role, and was also made a life member.

Having lost captain Jack Liddle to a career ending injury last season, Dave Henry took over the responsibility and steadied the ship while leading the team to midtable from the very depths of the bottom of the tree.

He is no longer able to continue the role, but popular scrum half Chris Patterson was elected new skipper.

Training takes place on Thursday evenings, and the first league game is scheduled for September 16.
