TYNEDALE Raiders impressed during a competitive friendly with Harrogate’s second string.

The appearance of regular first teamers Jack Harrison, Joe Mills and Henry Hadfield strengthened the side, although Harry Snowdon missed out due to illness and Aedon Maloney was injured during the warm-up.

The game was organised to provide a good challenge to both teams, and so it proved even if Tynedale dominated in the pack and were much more powerful in the scrum.

Harrison, playing at number 10, got the ball rolling by scoring under the posts, and he then played in Guy Rundle to extend the lead to 12-0. Harrogate hit back with an unconverted try before the break.

Tynedale improved in the second half and captain Simon Allan went over out wide, with Harrogate again responding.

However, the victory belonged to the Raiders as Harrison charged down a kick to go over for his second try, with Micky Hall finishing off a great break from Jamie Dixon to round off the scoring. Dixon successfully sent over his second kick of the afternoon.
