CORBRIDGE Centurions added a second piece of silverware for the season with a resounding 43-22 victory over Durham City Saracens.

The Tynedale rugby team impressed in the final of the Candy League Vase against a tough Durham side, adding the trophy to the Northumberland County Plate.

Durham took the lead but young fly half Jake Rogers levelled things with a sensational solo try, beating three men and then chipping the full back to gather and touch down.

It put Corbridge in the ascendancy and experienced scrum half Benn Horncastle darted over at the side of the ruck, Durham countering to take the half time score to 14-10 to Tynedale.

The pendulum continued to swing from one end to the other, David Batey and Edd Cawthorn scoring either side of a Durham try.

Colin Murphy extended Corbridge’s lead, with Rashid Ahmed Ahmed also scoring to add to the penalty scored by reliable kicker Rogers, who converted all but one try.

The victory did come at a cost though, as hooker Adam Binks left the field with a nasty looking arm injury early on after going close following a driving maul.
