A PONTELAND teenager continues to progress up the international ladder.
Callum Chick (19), a former junior at the town‘s rugby club and ex-pupil at Ponteland High School, made his England U20 debut in his country’s shock 24-6 defeat at the hands of Scotland.
The exciting back rower with Newcastle Falcons has represented England throughout the junior age groups, and is firmly in the running to step up to England‘s senior squad in years to come after making his bow for the U20 team.
Chick was selected for the opener of the U20 Six Nations Championship when Scotland beat England for the first time in 11 years, but his inclusion in the team is another sign of his future in the game after signing his first professional contract with Newcastle in 2015.
