THE Lee Westwood Golf Tour will again head to Close House this year.

There will be 20 events held across the UK and Europe, with the Tynedale golf centre, which has a close association with the world famous golfer who operates as its touring professional, featuring on August 17.

It will act as a warm-up for the prestigious British Masters which is coming to the Tyne Valley in September at the request of Westwood.

During the golf tour, young golfers under the age of 21, both boys and girls, will battle it out in the various age categories to book their place in the grand final in October.

The tour will run competitions at U17 and U21 level, and will also have a girls’ category with players going forward to the grand final for both gross and nett scores.

Up to six players from each event on the tour can qualify for the final.

The appearance at Close House will be the only stop-off in the North-East, with the closest being held at Worksop Golf Club, in South Yorkshire, on August 23.
