TYNEDALE runners put in great performances as they represented Northumberland in the inter counties schools cross country championships.
Having qualified for the regional event after great displays in the county event, the local runners were out in force at the Cleveland event.
Missing from the action was Max Pearson, the Northumberland intermediate boys‘ champion, along with Queen Elizabeth High School and Tynedale Harriers mate Alex Wood who claimed third in the county race.
Notably, Kieran Hedley, who finished runner-up to Max, finished fourth in the inter counties.
QE was represented in the race by both Chris Jackson and Cameron Grey who claimed 29th and 41st respectively, while Arabella Chicken was 30th in the girls’ event.
Hannah Pinkney, also of QE, followed on her third on the county stage with an excellent 11th in the senior girl‘s category. Prudhoe High School pupil Jaycee Shotton was 36th among the boys.
There were some great displays from Tynedale runners in the junior sections too with Ponteland High School pupil Chloe Wellings 17th and Roisin Lally, of St Joseph’s Middle, in Hexham, 21st.
Also representing the girls, Jasmine Couchman, of Prudhoe High, was 54th and Bethan Nitsch, of QE, 60th.
Jamie Styles, of Ponteland Middle, claimed 21st in the boys’ race, with Corbridge Middle’s Joseph Grey 33rd and Luke Shears, of Ponteland High, in 47th.
Steven Clark, of Hexham Middle, clinched a very respectable 20th in the minor boys‘ race with Phillipe King-Lewis, of St Joseph’s, in 40th.
Ponteland Middle representative Emily Allison was 22nd in the girls‘ race and Hexham Middle’s Olivia Milburn was 50th.
