MORE silverware ended back at Stocksfield Golf Club as it was the turn of the ladies to shine on the county stage.

Following Ben Lee and Dan Shevill’s capture of the Hadrian League Challenge Cup, the club came away with the Durnell Trophy as they topped a field of 20 teams from across Northumberland.

With Stocksfield hosting the competition, the home quartet of Carole Smith, Brenda Mills, Diane Harvey and Marie Palmer lifted the trophy with a total of 113 stableford points, just two more than Hexham .

Over at Hexham, Matty Lamb (40) won Division One of the Thursday Stableford. Michael Ridley (39) was a close second and Ian Robinson (38) was third. Division Two was won by Nigel Robson (45), with George Whitfield (39) and Ian Graham (36) making up the top three.

George Noble and David Haffey (74) won the Billy Lamb Memorial Salvers, ahead of Neil Lowdon and Mark Dryden (68) and Colin Wilkinson and John List (67).

The Junior Stableford was won by Will Jenkins (33) who edged out Joseph Robson (32) and Owen Murtough (29).

The Joe Gibson Plate at Haltwhistle was won by Richard Watters (66-3-60), with Craig Smith (77-12-65) and John Archibald (78-10-68) second and third respectively. Paul Turner (83-15-68) won the Triers Trophy, ahead of John Kennedy (94-22-72) and Gavin Mitchell (95-19-76).

Chris Clark (41) triumphed at Bellingham’s Captain‘s Day, Stewart Jones (38) in second and Ian Famelton (38) in third. John Thompson (36) won Past Captains’ Trophy.

Jonny Herdman, Brian Wood, Bob Garnet and Alan Hills (62-5.5-56.5) won the club’s Open Four Man Texas Scramble, with clubmates Stewart Jones, Alex Jones, Jack Jones and Michael Davison (63-3.1-59.9) following.

Di Hutchinson (90-18-72) won the Ladies‘ Forster Cup, with Christine Lees (91-16-75) in second and Lorna Thornton (102-26-76) third. The Stableford Cup Qualifier was won by Brian Hardon (37), followed by David Dunn (36) and Jack Johnstone (34).
