RIDERS at South Northumberland Pony Club have done the region proud with some brilliant displays at the national championships.

With the club enjoying a great season to qualify teams throughout all disciplines, they again shone to record some excellent results against the best of the rest from across the country.

There were some particularly eye-catching performances in the eventing with Gemma Burvill finishing fourth and Emi Rowell ninth in the open category.

They were unable to field a team as a last minute injury ruled Lauren Chaffey out of the competition.

The intermediate team of Gini Clarkson, Katie Proctor, Gemma Harris and Emi Holden claimed a fantastic ninth spot, with Emi in 10th in the individual stakes.

A young novice team of Jack Donaldson, Jack Clarkson, Katie Bailey and Abi Courage, a late replacement for Sarah Dodd through injury, finished just out of the rosettes.

South North also qualified a team in the intermediate dressage and there were good performances by the team of Gemma Harris, Emi Holden, Gini Clarkson and Honor Gartland.

In the showjumping sections, both Ross Fiori and Emi Rowell showed great skills in the intermediate and open classes respectively.

Rounding off a great weekend, the club‘s senior horse and pony care team finished sixth out of a competition of 18.

The performances at Cholmondeley, Cheshire, followed on from the phenomenal glory secured by the club’s intermediate tetrathlon team of Jack Clarkson and brothers Matthew and William Quinn.
