MATFEN Senators enjoyed victory in their war with club counterparts Matfen Tribunes .

They edged their rivals 6-4 in Division Two as Alex Holliday won all three games and his doubles with David Swan. Stephen Oxley won two to help earn the six points, Tribunes’ points coming courtesy of Keith Hodges (2), John Henderson (1) and Nigel Tree (1).

Tribunes went into the derby on the back of a 5-5 draw with Old England Fatts (Hodges 2, Tree 1, Peter Seago 1, Tree & Hodges 1).

It ended all square when Newton B (Chas Robertson 2, David Lucas 2, Robert Lawson 1) hosted Riding Mill B (Allan Thompson 2, Maurice Cheek 1, Duncan Fraser 1, Thompson & Cheek 1) in Division One too.

Riding Mill A also drew 5-5 in their Premier Division match-up with Cramlington Stingers (Mark O’Connor 2, Geoff Salter 2, Peter Stempczyk 1).

Newton C enjoyed a slender 6-4 triumph over Cramlington Jaguars in Division Four (Julian Manuel 3, John Morgan 2, Andrew Smith 1).
