RIDING Mill B took their frustrations out on Division One rivals Newton B.

For days after being beaten 9-1 by table topping Newton A, they inflicted an 8-2 loss on their club counterparts.

Shirley Gelder was named player of the match as she won all three of her singles, as well as the doubles with Maurice Cheek who won one of his games.

Andrew Firth ended with a 100 per cent record too with three wins to his name.

For Newton B, Chas Robertson and David Lucas scored against Cheek.

It was a far cry from Mill’s performance against Newton A as they only had one win from Allan Thompson to show for their efforts. The title favourites were again in fine form with John Russell and Craig Fryer both winning all three games.

Graeme Bell dropped just one game, but combined well with Russell to take the doubles.

With just two games to go, Newton A have all but confirmed the title, although they can still be caught by second placed The Mount B who have two games in hand.

Newton B, meanwhile, are still looking to move out of the bottom two, and Riding Mill B are firmly in mid-table as they occupy sixth spot.
