SOUTH Northumberland Pony Club will be well represented at the national championships after some great performances from their young members.

The club will send teams in the open, novice and intermediate classes to the Pony Club Championships in Cholmondeley, Cheshire, at the end of August after they won through the area finals in Cumwhinton, Cumbria.

It adds to further success the club has enjoyed, as they have qualifiers in all disciplines including the tetrathlon, pure dressage, show jumping and horse and pony care.

Representing the novice team is Jack Clarkson, Jack Donaldson, Sarah Dodd and Katie Bailey. There was individual success for Jack Clarkson who won his arena, with Jack Donaldson third in his arena.

The intermediate team is made up of Jeannie Clarkson, Emily Holden, Gemma Harris and Katie Proctor, with Lauren Chassey, Emi Rowell, Gemma Burvil and Susie White representing the open team.

Team coach Charlotte Ridley said: “All children work incredibly hard and it is great that we have managed to qualify three teams for the national final.

“They have been doing team training and have worked really hard, and they really deserve to all go through due to the amount of effort they have put in.

“They are a really nice, supportive bunch of children who stick together through ups and downs, and it is a real credit to them all that they have done so well. We’re all so proud of their achievements.”
