For he claimed another title at Allendale , Forsyth‘s +8 blowing away the competition in the appropriately named Turbine Trophy bogey competition.

Finishing second was Jim Hall (+6) with gent’s captain Kevin Philipson (+5) in third.

The Heatherlee Cup Gent‘s Open saw Matfen Hall members Gary Sanderson and George Simpson carding identical scores of 75-13-62, the title going to Sanderson on countback. Dennis Bowling came third with a nett 65.

In a busy period at Prudhoe’s veterans section, David Hurst claimed the hotly contested Don Hepple Memorial Trophy with 39, five of those gained on one hole!

Runner-up was Alan Rutherford (38) with John Brown (38) a close third.

The Bill Leadbitter Salver was another close affair with the trophy going to Brown (36), edging ahead of main rivals Malcolm Ward (35) and Ian Strachan (35).

Countback was needed at Hexham as Alistair Harris (36) just pipped David Murray (36) to first place in the Thursday Stableford. David Thompson (33) was third.

Three players were tied on 35 points in Division Two with Michael Coleman claiming victory over Gary Taylor and Gilbert Rourke.

Andrew Laidler (71-6-65) won Division One of the September Medal, with Ian Robinson (78-10-68) in second and David Fletcher (76-8-68) in third. Keith Henderson carded an ace on the 16th.

Anthony Nicholson (81-13-68) was the winner of Division Two’s equivalent, ahead of Leslie Hare (89-21-68) and David Donaldson (82-14-68).

In the ladies‘ section, the Silver Division of the latest medal was won by Christine Forster (90-18-72). In second was Paula Forster (97-20-77) and Sue Shaw Toomey (91-14-79) was in third.

Christine Phillips (110-36-74) won the Bronze Division, with Jennifer Herrmann (93-27-76) and Jane Bradley (101-24-77) made up the top three.

Played over 36 holes, Susan Turner triumphed in the Chronicle Cup with a score of 152. Val Robinson (154) was next up, with Fran Philipson (155) in third.

In the Calcutta Cup final, Carole Mortimer beat Susan Turner 4&3.

The Junior Reivers Trophy was won by Owen Murtough (97-24-73) ahead of Finn McKendrick (88-12-76) and Will Shrimpton (96-19-77).

Owen (31) then finished runner-up to Ross Donaldson (32) in the Junior Stableford, with Will (30) again in third place.

John Kennedy (89-22-67) won Haltwhistle’s Dickinson Cup, with Raymond Nicholson (82-14-68) in second and Richard Gibson (79-11-68) in third. Richard Watters (74) recorded the best gross.

David Richardson (38) triumphed in the NBGA, closely followed by Trevor Jackson (37) and Kevin Whitaker (36).

The annual Ryder Cup style match-up between the Reivers and the Centurions at Bellingham went in favour of the former.

Under the fine leadership of captain Davey Cowan, the Reivers trailed 3-2 after the fourballs. However, the afternoon foursomes was dominated by the Reivers and their 5-0 win saw them take an overnight lead of 7-3.

The Reivers pushed on to win the following morning‘s fourballs 3-2 to extend their lead to 10-5, and they capped it off by dominating the singles with eight wins and three halves.

The sole winner for the Centurions was Kieran MacLaren, the final outcome seeing the Reivers victorious by 19.5-7.5 over the Centurions.

Elsewhere at the club, Ollie Grimwood and Christine Robson (92-18.5-73.5) combined to lift the mixed Milburn Cup foursomes competition.

Runners-up were the pairing of Doug Lane and Brenda Morpeth (100-24.5-75.5) with Shirley Carruthers and Jamie Grimwood (96-20-76) in third.

Dom Rapier (73-6-67) won the Medal Championship qualifier, ahead of Jack Johnstone (74-6-68) and Alec Jones (72-4-68).

The Stableford Cup qualifier was won by Brian Hardon (37) with Alan Glass (31) runner-up.
