THERE was another milestone moment among a field of many for Team Oliver Racing.

For Michael Oliver claimed his first race career podium finish when he claimed second during a four race European Truck Challenge, in Nogaro, France.

In the third race, he crossed the line just ahead of his father, 10-times British champion Stuart, to cap a great race for the Bardon Mill-based truck racers.

With the taste of champagne still fresh on his lips, Oliver jnr managed an immediate return to the podium as he followed it up with third spot.

It followed an opening race fifth place for him - his father was runner-up - and seventh in the second race, which Stuart didn't manage to finish after spinning off into the gravel trap.

The Olivers then headed to Nurburgring, in Germany, for the British Truck Race Championship, with a detour to a workshop in the Czech Republic for a quick engine overhaul to Stuart's truck.

After qualification sessions to forget for both, the pair worked their way from the back in the opening race for Stuart to finish eighth and Michael just two places behind.

Stuart's crowning glory then came when he claimed the top step on the world famous Nurburgring podium by crossing the line first, with son Michael retiring from the race due to a turbo pipe connection failure.

Stuart settled for second in the following race with Michael eighth.
