A TOTAL of £1,000 was raised for charity through the Lady Captain's Charity Day at Matfen Hall.
There was strong support for Lynda Conway on the day to raise cash for the Bubble Foundation UK, based at the Great North Children's Hospital at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.
The charity raises fund for babies born with Severe Combined Immune Deficiency (SCID), a very rare condition where babies have a defective gene and therefore cannot fight infection. Hence, for the early part of their lives live in a 'bubble', a sterile hospital room.
A raffle was held as part of the fund-raiser, while many members of Matfen's ladies section took part in the charity stableford competition which was won by Michele McKenzie with 42 points.
Lynda Conway was again celebrating when she won Matfen's Bank Holiday Stableford, her score of 39 points seeing her finish ahead of John Dodds (32) and Christopher Thompson (31).
In the Mixed Open competition, the Laidlers (46) came out on top with the Herons (43) finishing as runners-up.
