TYNEDALE rivals Matfen Senators and Prudhoe United Services B continue to be locked in a head-to-head battle for the Division Three title.

The two have pulled away from third placed Cramlington Trojans in the Northumbria Summer League, with Matfen enjoying a slender lead over Prudhoe with just three games to play.

Matfen have lost one of their 11 games but won nine and drew one, and they lead the way by four points due to their high margin victories despite Prudhoe currently being unbeaten with 10 wins and a draw from their 11 encounters.

The teams meet each other at Prudhoe on Tuesday, August 8, with the outcome to have a big say on the title race.

Elsewhere in the division, Matfen Tribunes lie in sixth spot with three wins and one draw to their name.

In the top league of Division One, Prudhoe United Services A are also sixth with three wins and a draw from their nine games, although they have a game in hand over most of their rivals.
