WITH the competition touch tight, Ken Robinson triumphed in the penultimate contest at Tynedale.

His score of 6up landed him the checkatrade.com Rover Trophy ahead of runner-up Brendan Murphy (5up) and third placed Dennis Orridge (4up).

There were seven birdie twos recorded on the day but it was Rbinson’s lucky day as he claimed the eighth hole, with Pete Carson halving his on the seventeenth hole to share the pot.

The ladies section brought their season to an end with Barbara Younger winning both the Evans Trophy and the October 9 hole qualifier.

Jenny Hughes won the September 9 hole, while Anne Scott was the overall medals winner for October. She won the first medal, while Rita Barber won the second one.

The end of the season Forster Milburn Millennium Trophy at Allendale saw popular local figure, Sylvia Milburn, accept the position of president.

As local residents, members and past captains met to congratulate her, there was some excellent golf being played on the course with Robin Makepeace finishing with 40 points for his second win of the season from Richie Rutherford (39) and Malcolm Aitchison (39).

The Gents‘ October Medal was won convincingly by Ian Crocker (74-12-62) from Dennis Bowling (80-16-64), while Debbie Carter celebrated her first singles victory of the season by winning the Ladies’ Medal with a nett 66 from Valeria Dunn’s 67.

With the best gross, Richard Gibson (76-10-66) triumphed in Category One of Haltwhistle‘s October Medal. Craig Smith (79-12-67) finished second and Trevor Jackson (76-7-69) third.

Stuart Caisley (90-21-69) won Category Two ahead of Steven Batey (86-16-70) and John Tweddle (89-19-70).

David Scott shot a fine two under par gross 68 to amass 41 points to win the first of the two autumn finals in The Stableford Cup at Bellingham . He was closely pursued by Clive Pegden (39) points and Chris Murphy (39).

The top three in the Stableford Cup Qualifier was Mark Walton (34), Brian Hardon (33) and Anthony Gray (32).

Bob Simpson (37), John Roberts (36) and Paul Wright (34) occupied the top spots in the Stableford For The Rest.

Simpson (77-14-63) also tasted success in the Medal Championship Qualifier, with Dom Rapier (71-5-66), who recorded lowest gross score, and David Dunn (76-8-68) hot on his heels.
