THE juniors at Stocksfield impressed to take the top two positions in the club’s PGA Pro-Am qualifier.

Josh Ward (79-15-64), pictured, took the honours in a tight competition, seeing off the challenge of fellow teen Josh McCutcheon (73-7-66), who posted the lowest gross score. Ray Kennedy (88-22-66) was third.

In the latest Fred Punshon stableford competition, 40 points earned Andy Todd the victory. He finished ahead of Gordon McArthur (39) and Ian McGowan (37).

Paula Noble (105-32-73) won the latest ladies’ medal, ahead of Diane Harvey (111-32-79) and Marie Palmer (109-29-80).

Paul Nash (33) won the Seniors Stableford, with Dick Forth (31) second and Keith Martinson (30) third.

An impressive round of 69 helped Ben King to a big victory in the Walton Cup at Bellingham .

His score of 69-2-67 helped him to the trophy, finishing ahead of Jim Cowens (88-18-70) and William Dunn (82-12-70).

King (69) maintained his momentum to win in the second round of the club’s Centenary Scratch Cup, with Jack Johnstone (74) second and David Scott (77) third.

With the lowest gross, Johnstone (75-3-72) finished third in the Medal Championship qualifier, behind winner Clive Pegden (84-16-68) and runner-up Jim Henderson (94-24-70).

Brian Hardon (81-13-68) triumphed in the Hadrian League Challenge Cup qualifier, with David Scott (71-3-69) second and Harry Varley (98-25-73) third. Ruth Foley (107-37-70) took home the Ladies Challenge Cup as she finished ahead of Di Hutchinson (92-19-73) and Jane Jones (86-12-74).

Joan Batey (21) won the ladie’s nine hole handicap qualifier, with Gladys MacDonald (15) second.

The seniors showed the younger members at Tynedale the way in the latest tournament.

For eight places in the top 10 of the weekend’s checkatrade.com Mercantile Trophy went to the older players at the Tyne Green club.

Topping the list was Terry McNally with figures of 83-20-63, ahead of Liam Reilly (86-22-64) who claimed the runner-up spot from Douggie Pearson (85-21-64).

Qualifiers in the Laing Trophy at Hexham over the weekend were Jon Scott-Davey (65), Neil Forsyth (66), Simon Clayton-Hibbott (66), Robert Hart (64), Shaun Fenwick (69) and Geoff Strong (70).

Anne Parkin (95-26-69) produced the best gross score to win Alston Moor’s Horrocks Cup, with Yung Me Butterworth (97-20-77) second and Vivien James (110-31-79) third.
