THE juniors at Tynedale Rugby Club are back under way this weekend, with more than 400 players spread over 15 squads.

The club will field youth teams of players aged five right through to 18, both boys and girls. Teams are mixed until the age of 11/12, before they move to boys' or girls' rugby at U14, U15 and U18.

New youth rugby chairman Gary Robson said: "The emphasis is upon fun and enjoyment at all ages in this inclusive club, however, teams of skilled volunteer coaches aid development of players at all ages to help players reach their highest potential."

The girls at Tynedale Panthers have just returned from a weekend of playing rugby and watching the Women's World Cup final in Belfast over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Tynedale U15 defeated Larne 54-7 to kick start their tour, while the U13 started with a comfortable victory against a less experienced team.

This was followed by an improptu training session with the GB Sevens coach organised by Panthers coach, and ex-Irish international, Annie lees, before watching the World Cup final between England's Red Roses and New Zealand's White Ferns.

Both Tynedale then won both of their games as they played against teams from Scarborough and host club Donaghadee.
