Having lost three Northumbria Division Two games in a row, the 17-8 success was a big relief for the team as they look to improve on their fifth position.
There were wins for Adrian Alderton (15-3, 15-10, 7-15, 15-5), Damon Watts (15-11, 13-15, 15-11) and Paul Satow (15-6, 15-13, 15-3).
Tom Ewen (13-15, 12-15, 15-11, 12-15) and Andrew Wilkinson (15-12, 15-10, 9-15, 9-15, 14-15) were involved in close games but couldn’t overcome their respective opponents.
There was victory for Hexham II too, as they defeated Scotezzi 3-2 (17-9).
Greg van Hinsbergh (15-8, 15-7, 15-9), Jon Steward (9-15, 15-13, 15-12, 15-11) and Joe Anderson (14-15, 15-8, 6-15, 15-7, 15-2) secured the triumph in Division Four.
Guy Jepson (11-15, 15-13, 10-15, 10-15) and Kristen McCluskie (14-15, 15-14, 8-15, 15-7, 7-15) weren’t able to add to the points tally.
Hexham’s first team were looking to build on their success with bottom of the table Consett next up.
