A TRIP over the Cumbria border brought a successful outcome for Hexham and District Motor Club.
While they couldn't quite make the podium in the Blue Streak Rally, in Carlisle, against a strong field of championship strong performances, two crews were knocking on the door.
In their Peugeot 205, Chris Dodds and Pete Gibson took a class win and were agonisingly close to third overall, with Hexham clubmates Simon Jennings and Clive White, also scoring a win in their class, finishing one place behind in fifth in their Peugeot 105.
The event consisted of 20 high speed tests, several of which were located within the precincts of Carlisle Airport, while others took place over farm tracks, through a former brickworks and over Ministry of Defence property.
