With Ponteland High School pupils Lucy Dodd and Isabella Goodall joining them, the team got to the semi-finals of the National U12 Junior League at the National Badminton Centre, in Milton Keynes.
Qualifying after performing well at preliminary rounds in the North-East, the mixed team represented the Walbottle/ Northumberland Junior League and were up against 15 other teams from across England.
They made their way to a third place play-off, losing that to claim a very respectable fourth.
Haltwhistle headteacher Sandra Graham said: ‘We are delighted with the skill, commitment and determination that these pupils have demonstrated, and we are proud of their achievements in this national competition.”
Surrey-based Swifts Junior Badminton Club cleaned up at the championships by winning national titles at U12, U14 and U16 levels.
