BELLINGHAM members struggled ’keeping up with the Joneses‘ as Alec Jones (37) won the Stableford Cup qualifier and Stewart Jones (74-9-65) won the Medal Championship qualifier.

Brian Hardon (37) and Jack Johnstone (36) made up a tight top three in the Stableford, with Dom Rapier (76-6-70) and David L. Cowan (79-9-70) second and third respectively in the Medal.

Cowan (75-9-66) enjoyed success in the Ford Trophy as he finished ahead of Kieran Maclaren (75-6-69) and Hardon (83-12-71).

The ladies’ nine hole handicap qualifier was separated on countback with Josie Dickson (17) edging out Gladys MacDonald (17). Following close behind was third placed Pat Batey (16).

Carding the equivalent of 12 under par, Suzanne Phillips blew away the field in Andy Paisley‘s annual members‘ competition at Hexham .

She recorded a remarkable score of 48 stableford points for the victory, with little between Peter Scott Davey (42) and Yvonne Reekie (42) in second and third. In the same competition, Andy Penfold had a hole in one on the 13th.

Elsewhere at the club, Alastair Harris (72-3-69) won Division One of the Thursday Medal ahead of Michael Ridley (81-11-70) and Ross Donaldson (79-8-71). Ian Graham (88-18-70) won Division Two with Gilbert Rourke (92-21-71) in second and Simon Bradbury (94-22-72) in third.

Andy Crawford (39) edged out Joseph Robson (39) on countback in Division One of the Thursday Stableford, with Michael Inglis (38) making up the top three. David Haffey (38) won Division Two ahead of Michael Lee (36) and David Donaldson (36). Neil Forsyth recorded a hole in one at the 10th.

In the juniors’ section, Jamie Brown carded a 36 hole score of 129 to win the Cregan Trophy. Then followed Will Jenkins (135) and Owen Murtough (136).

Joseph Robson (153) won the Lambert Trophy, with Ross Donaldson (160) in second and Jamie Brown (163) in third.

The ladies‘ August Stableford went to Judith Oakley (36) with Mary Oliver (35) and Marie Browne (35) both close behind. Hexham Ladies III gained promotion by ending with a 6/1 win over Newcastle United.

Sally Weir was crowned ladies‘ champion at Tynedale after beating Linda Murray 3&2, while Rita Barber is the handicap champion following her 5&4 result against Jayne Jones.

Angela Gilhepsie won the Captain’s Salver, and Liz Heppell is the club‘s domestic handicap winner.

A well contested Ladies’ Open at Allendale saw the Alston pair of Gina Parryman and Sandra MacKenzie (43) win the Hodge Cup. Hexham‘s Liz Benson (37) lifted the individual trophy.

The club’s U12 Medal was won by Ellis Bradley (43) from Jack Campbell (45) and Carl Baxter, while Ron Jamieson (36) was victorious in the gents’ Captain‘s Putter from Rod Milburn (35).

Allendale member Tony Johnson completed his marathon 252 holes in seven days in aid of Pennines Wildfire Rescue, playing 36 holes every day for a week even in some torrential weather.
