A FATHER and son team from Stocksfield couldn’t believe their luck when they both scored a hole in one within a week of each other.

Andrew (41) and Josh Ward (13), both members at the village’s golf club, recently recorded the memorable double to their great surprise.

Prudhoe High School pupil Josh, who has just returned from a trip to Madrid with Sunderland AFC’s Academy team, started the ball rolling when he carded his ace on the third hole while playing a friendly round with his friends..

A week later, his father Andrew was celebrating a second ever hole-in-one when he excelled on the 10th, regarded as one of the hardest par three holes in the county, during the September Medal competition.

Andrew said: “Josh rang me while I was at work and I knew he was out playing golf, so I knew straight away why he was calling because he never rings. He was over the moon.

“A week later I got one on the 10th with Josh beside me and I was absolutely buzzing. Josh was just excited as I was, and when you achieve that it is just an amazing feeling.

“It’s great that we both got a hole-in-one and we play golf together most Saturdays at Stocksfield because he is getting to the age where he is getting really interested in it.”
