HE’S scooped the North-East title, and now a motorcyclist from Hexham has won an award further afield.

Dominic Herbertson (24) was announced as the Preston and District Motorcycle Club champion at the weekend to go with the trophy for winning the North East Motorcycle Racing Club‘s super twin championship.

The exciting motorsports prospect will be looking to make it a hat-trick of awards as he has also been shortlisted in the Sportsman of the Year category at next month’s Sport Tynedale Awards.

The Preston accolade was bestowed on him for being the best performing TT rider at the club, Dominic associated with the Lancastrians when he travelled down for a meeting at the Three Sisters course, in Wigan.

He made his mark there too, setting a new lap record during his visit!

He said: “I didn‘t know I won the Preston championship until I got a phone call a few days earlier, so it was a massive surprise. It’s nothing over the top but it‘s great to win it.

“It has been an absolutely cracking year really, and there seems to be awards coming left, right and centre. It all looks good for my racing career and it helps push my name forward.”
